Laura Lowery joins The Cancer Foundation as Executive Director with over 20 years of nonprofit experience specializing in donor relations, volunteer management and grant administration. As Executive Director, Laura works closely with our Board of Directors to achieve our mission to alleviate the financial burden of cancer through direct assistance to patients that meet our eligibility requirements. Laura and the staff of the Foundation create opportunities for donors and volunteers to make a meaningful impact in the lives of cancer patients experiencing the toxic financial side effects of a cancer diagnosis. What Laura enjoys most about her work is that it brings people together who need each other but who may not otherwise meet. Patients in need benefit immediately from the support of donors who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those suffering from cancer.
An Athens native, Laura is a graduate of Agnes Scott College and holds a master’s degree in Theological Studies from Vanderbilt University. She serves on the Board of the Athens YWCO and the Women United Council of the United Way of Northeast Georgia. Laura and her husband, Harris Lowery, have two active children and a large extended family throughout northeast Georgia.
